Mass grave near Novi Pazar?!

(Patria) - The Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of Serbia confirmed that preparations have begun for clearing the site of a possible mass grave near Novi Pazar and for the construction of an access road, after which a search of the "Golo Brdo" landfill is planned.

Excavations will be carried out at the request of Kosovo, which has provided information to the Serbian side about the possibility that the remains of killed Albanian civilians, who have been missing for more than two decades, are buried at this location, reports Radio Free Europe (RSE).

The head of the unit of the Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of Kosovo, Kuštrim Gara, said that they received information about this location from various witnesses and that the site preparations began on August 26.

At the end of August, representatives of the EULEX forensic team also visited the location with officials from Serbia and Kosovo.

"This activity was in line with EULEX's commitment to support relevant institutions with the help of forensic experts in shedding light on the fate of more than 1,600 missing persons in connection with the Kosovo conflict," the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) told RSE.

During the war in 1998 and 1999, more than 13,000 civilians, mostly Albanians, were killed, and thousands went missing.
