Prime Minister-designate of Serbia: I deeply believe that a historic agreement between Serbs and Bosniaks is possible

(Patria) - The President of the Serbian Assembly, Ana Brnabić, convened a special session for today, with the election of the new Government of the Republic of Serbia on the agenda.

The Prime Minister-designate, Miloš Vučević, presented his exposé, proposed the composition of the Government, and in his address, he also spoke about Serbia's relations with its neighbors.

Vučević stated that his government will maintain good relations with all neighbors and that its policy will be a policy of peace.

He noted that Montenegro is a country that historically has had no one closer than Serbia, and there is no reason why this should not be the case again.

- Years of artificially created divisions are behind us, and days of common victory are ahead of us - Vučević stated, adding that Serbia has never questioned, nor will it question, Montenegrin statehood.

According to him, these are fabrications by those who do not want to see harmony between Belgrade and Podgorica.

- We will always insist on respecting the rights of the Serbian people and the Serbian church in Montenegro in accordance with European standards, just as we do in communication with other countries - emphasized the prime minister-designate.

Speaking about Bosnia and Herzegovina, he stressed that it is a country of three constituent peoples, including the Serbs. It is a country whose integrity, Vučević assures, Serbia respects and "has never questioned, nor will it do so".

- Everyone in Serbia will always have a dialogue partner, if they wish to work on strengthening Dayton's BiH, a country where the letter, not the arbitrary spirit of the Dayton Peace Agreement from 1995, will be respected. A country where Republika Srpska will be able to realize all the rights that follow and that the Serbian people wish to realize.

No one can forbid us from loving Republika Srpska, nor impose guilt and stigma of a genocidal nation. I deeply believe that a historic agreement between Serbs and Bosniaks is possible, and I wish all the best to Bosniaks - emphasizes Vučević.

He notes that Croatia is a country with which Serbia has a complex historical legacy.

- We are aware of the numerous challenges that lie on the path to improving our mutual relations. No one should expect us to give up our right to truth, sorrow, and justice for the sake of improving relations with Zagreb.

If the other side sincerely wishes it, let them know. We are always willing to talk. We want to improve relations. And if there is mutual will, I believe we can achieve it - said Vučević.

As for North Macedonia, he pointed out that it is a country where Serbia can always find a partner, and even more than that.

- Serbs and Macedonians no longer have any issues that distance us. There is no issue around which we could separate, or where there could be a particular rift.

The Open Balkan project has brought us closer, and the resolution of the church dispute has removed the last obstacle on the path to building mutual trust and joint work, the likes of which have not been seen since the breakup of former Yugoslavia - claims Vučević.

Regarding Albania, he said it is a country with which Serbia, through the Open Balkan project, has likely managed to reach the maximum of relations under the given circumstances.

- I will strive to maintain that level in the coming period. I know that Albania and Serbia will probably never agree on the status of Kosovo, but I also believe that we can have common interests - added Vučević.
