Macron with Vučić in Paris: France's unwavering support for BiH's unity

(Patria) - French President Emmanuel Macron stated today after talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić that he believes in Serbia's ability to find the path of dialogue again.

He said he hopes the future government will decisively continue the expected reforms and consolidate the very good economic results.

After the meeting in Paris, Vučić said that the world is entering "a turbulent era that will last" and that it is "good that Serbia has a great ally in Europe like France".

Macron wrote on platform X that he discussed cooperation, European integration, relations between Serbia and Kosovo, as well as the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with Vučić.

"A long conversation just now with the President of Serbia. I once again emphasized to him how much France values Serbia's democratic and European future," Macron wrote.

He stated that he also discussed the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo with Vučić and emphasized that France is "deeply committed to this process" and that it is a "fundamental condition for their European integration".

Macron also stated that in his conversation with Vučić, he recalled France's "unwavering support" for the unity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its "condemnation of any action aimed at questioning that unity".

"It is everyone's responsibility to engage in respecting the constitutional order so that Bosnia and Herzegovina can return to its European path," Macron wrote.

He noted that he also discussed the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo with Vučić and emphasized that France is "deeply committed to this process", and that it is a "fundamental condition for their European integration".

The President of Serbia stated that the most difficult topic was the situation in the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska.

"I fought to find a compromise solution. I cannot accept that the only solution is the arrest of (Republika Srpska President Milorad) Dodik. That is not a solution, that is creating problems," Vučić asserted, adding that he presented his ideas for resolving the crisis – without specifying what they were.

Vučić told reporters that he discussed geopolitical issues and the situation in the region and Serbia with Macron.

"We discussed numerous issues regarding Serbia's European future, and I asked France to participate in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade; I think we will receive a positive response," Vučić stated.

Macron, for his part, confirmed France's participation in EXPO 2027.

Speaking about blockades and protests in Serbia, Vučić said that he informed Macron that the country had "endured terror" in the last four months.
