Ljubljana: Police kill man who attacked them with a sharp object

(Patria) - Gunshots were heard this afternoon on Preglov trg in Fužine, Ljubljana.

The police announced that officers were dispatched this afternoon for an emergency intervention in the Moste area of Ljubljana, where an individual was allegedly endangering the lives of passers-by.

Upon the arrival of the police officers, the individual actively attacked them with a sharp object, despite warnings to stop the attack, but they did not comply and continued to threaten them.

Therefore, in order to repel the unlawful attack on their lives, the police officers used firearms.

The individual died at the scene after the use of firearms, stated the Ljubljana Police Administration.

They also added that, in accordance with standard procedures, all necessary activities will be carried out to verify the legality of the use of force and to clarify all circumstances of the event.

"Currently, criminal investigators are carrying out activities at the scene, so we cannot provide more information at this time," said the Ljubljana Police Administration.
