Kurti: Attempts to impose 'Bosnification' of Kosovo

(Patria) - The Association of Serb Municipalities does not aim to increase the rights of Serbs, but to "territorialize these rights", as was done in Bosnia and Herzegovina (with the entity of RS), believes the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti.

"So, in Bosnia, they have the right of veto, but at the same time, they have the territorialization of their presence. That is what they are striving for in Kosovo, while they continue not to accept the crimes committed during the war in Kosovo and to maintain good relations with the Kremlin," Kurti told Radio Free Europe.

When asked if there was a type of Association that would be acceptable to him, Kurti said that Kosovo has the Association of Kosovo Municipalities, and that municipalities with a Serb majority are also there.

"I am for an Association that is developmental, democratic, based on European values, not on ethnic affiliation. Ethnic affiliation should not be the basis of the Association of Municipalities," said Kurti.

According to him, even the proposal of former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari gave the right of veto on so many things in the Assembly of Kosovo to representatives of the Serb minority, precisely because the territorialization of rights was not allowed.

During the interview for RSE, Kurti also said that he received warnings about the possibility of reduced Western support if Kosovo is not constructive in the dialogue with Serbia, but he also assessed that Kosovo is the constructive party in that process.

He added that the current European proposal is a good basis, but that it needs to be refined and made more precise.
