(Patria) - "Where does the generation of hatred lead?", is the topic of today's regular session of Krug 99, whose introductory speaker was Prof. Dr. Dinko Gruhonjić from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad.
At the beginning of the working part of the session, the president of Krug 99, Adil Kulenović, said that today's introductory speaker is faced with the brutality of manipulation of truth precisely in the era of technological progress and the power of hybrid, artificial intelligence.
That progress, Kulenović emphasized, in which it will apparently be increasingly difficult to distinguish truth from lies, montage from reality.
But that is also, he adds, just one of the consequences of personally following the right to free speech and the scientific, simply human credo of truth, and the ruthlessness of truthful speech of at least courageous individuals in times of utter confusion.
- The seduced are easy to seduce. And the seduction of the masses has lasted too long for enlightenment to yield a result other than barbarism. We all see it, here around us.
On this occasion, we are not interested in the individual-psychological factors that lead to hatred, those factors that affect the emotional and cognitive state, the state of individuals obsessed with hatred who, as people say, "hate themselves until noon, and the whole world in the afternoon." Rather, we are interested in the generation of hatred as an instrument and weapon of politics to achieve projected goals.
I am convinced that hatred between people and peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not the cause of the war, but its consequence, on which work is still persistently being done today. The political system itself in Bosnia and Herzegovina generates discrimination, violation of human rights, inequality of citizens in relation to territorial affiliation, inequality in the electoral process, unequal active and passive voting rights, etc... - says Kulenović.
According to his words, the daily dose of the most base insults and passions emitted by Milorad Dodik, not only through the denial of genocide and joint criminal enterprises against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also through the delegitimization of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, blocking any progress, an inclusive society, dehumanization and depersonalization of an entire people, as when he says "Muslims", using the dirtiest rhetoric, clearly have the goal of generating inter-ethnic hatred and discord.
His Western ally Zoran Milanović, the President of Croatia, is not far behind in this.
- Perhaps ponerology, as a young scientific discipline about the origin of evil in human nature, will provide answers to that obvious pathology that generates hatred, but only at dusk, when it is already too late.
However, the generation of hatred as a consequence of political rhetoric is obviously used to mobilize the people, by inciting fear of "others" and the myth of the superiority of one's own ethnic group over others.
And that necessarily leads to deep divisions in society and the possible escalation of conflicts - warns Kulenović.
He notes that it is absurd that, while both Serbia and Croatia are emptying of their native populations, old aspirations of territorial expansionism are simultaneously growing - and not only towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- The "Serbian world" has again donned the overcoat of ethno-nationalism and fascism, which also feeds the Croatian one. It seems that the production of hatred is the driving fuel for new dead ends in the current geopolitical circumstances and already seen cataclysms in the Balkans. Or is our picture just gloomy - added Kulenović.
