(Patria) - BiH Council of Ministers Chairperson Borjana Krišto is in Davos for the World Economic Forum, where she met separately with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
The two discussed relations between the two countries and the further continuation of cooperation between the institutions of BiH and the Republic of Croatia. Croatia is one of the largest foreign trade partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the level of investment in various fields is growing year by year.
The interlocutors concluded that the continuation of intensive cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure, technology, and other spheres represents a common interest and priority for both countries equally.
They agreed that BiH's candidate status is a strong motivation for strengthening all key segments and preparing for the negotiation process for membership in the European Union. The leading role of the Republic of Croatia in supporting BiH on its European path was confirmed, and on that occasion, Krišto thanked Croatian Prime Minister Plenković for his strong political engagement in favor of Bosnia and Herzegovina's European future.
She also emphasized the importance of key reforms in line with the adopted guidelines and principles in the executive and legislative authorities at the BiH level for the period 2022-2026, which certainly includes the urgent reform of the BiH Election Law, as well as strengthening the rule of law, along with socio-economic reforms as the key to action in the next four years. It was emphasized that the stability and functionality of BiH institutions are a guarantee of a European Bosnia and Herzegovina and strong regional relations that will contribute to the integration of the Western Balkan countries.
After the confirmation of the new BiH Council of Ministers, Krišto's first official visit will be to the Republic of Croatia.
She also met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. The officials discussed economic and all other topics of cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia, and ways to further improve cooperation. In order to further strengthen and develop economic relations and ties between the two countries, as well as in the region, Chairperson Krišto extended an invitation to President Vučić to, following the successfully realized partnership that the Republic of Serbia had with the Mostar Fair in 2018, be a guest at the 24th International Economy Fair this year, which will be held in early May in Mostar.
They also discussed issues of joining the European Union and the necessary steps that lie ahead for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.
President Vučić emphasized his understanding of the clearly stated goals for membership in the European Union, which include the equal rights of constituent peoples and all others in BiH, in order to contribute to ensuring political stability in BiH.
