Krišto and HDZ look down on Bosniaks, while Naša stranka tries to profit from Halid Bešlić's death

(Patria) - Bosnian great Halid Bešlić will find his final resting place on Monday at the Bare City Cemetery in Sarajevo.

However, politics, HDZ politics, did not deem it appropriate to declare a day of mourning in his honor throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 13th.

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, did not wish to put the initiative of the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, Sevlid Hurtić, on the agenda of the session.

Although there is still a theoretical chance that the decision will be made tomorrow, it is difficult to expect it, given that it is Sunday. Thus, the day of mourning will only be observed in the larger BiH entity.

Jahja Muhasilović, a professor of international relations and geopolitics at the International University of Sarajevo, believes that with such an attitude, Krišto and her HDZ have confirmed their "orientalist" approach to everything that has a Bosniak connotation, even if it concerns singers.

- They generally look down on Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosniaks, and they have proven to be uncivilized and uncultured. In the past, we have had cases where days of mourning were declared in our country for something that happened in a neighboring country, which is more or less irrelevant to BiH.

However, we see that for something that is important for Bosnian and Herzegovinian, and I would say Bosniak culture - HDZ has absolutely no understanding, and this is an apartheid approach, which they have not only in politics and culture, but generally - Muhasilović told the Patria News Agency (NAP).

On the other hand, our interlocutor adds, Serbian politics has proven to be much more courteous, as many of its politicians have expressed their condolences on the death of Halid Bešlić, "although we naturally do not agree with their policies".

- They have proven to be much more civilized, cultured, and courteous towards a personality who had a regional reach and was accepted by everyone in the Western Balkans. In fact, Borjana Krišto and her HDZ have clearly shown how much they despise everything Bosniak - emphasizes Muhasilović.

He reiterated that HDZ despises everything that has an "oriental" connotation.

- We are orientals to them, although that is far from the truth. On the other hand, Halid Bešlić is a personality who was multietnically accepted by everyone - everyone listened to and loved him, and they are annoyed by this national cohesion on this issue.

One of the primary goals and policies of HDZ is to break any national cohesion on any issue, even when it comes to culture, and in culture, we very often have cohesion. And HDZ is bothered by that.

Everything that strengthens Bosnia, the Bosnian identity, Bosnian culture, they will absolutely go against it. An anti-state, anti-cultural party, definitely - emphasizes Muhasilović.

Given that the Government of Republika Srpska also did not make a decision to declare a day of mourning, we asked him if there was any connection between HDZ and SNSD.

- It is obvious that SNSD recognized that HDZ does not want to go in that direction, and then they supported it because of the strategic alliance that Serbian and Croatian politics have, and they very often try not to go against each other, unless they have to. HDZ actually imposed its stance on SNSD and that entity.

HDZ is currently the strongest party in the Federation, and it also controls state institutions to a large extent. However, it has also become a serious factor in the Republika Srpska entity, firstly because it cooperates with the opposition, secondly because it has that strategic alliance with Dodik, and thirdly because the current illegal acting president of the Republika Srpska entity, appointed by Dodik, is a Croat. So HDZ has weight there too, it's not like it doesn't.

He also dictated this one orientalist negative approach, literally imposing it on Serbian politics, which is now following it - Muhasilović is clear.

The first to make a decision on a day of mourning in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the death of Halid Bešlić was the Government of Sarajevo Canton, at the proposal of Nihad Uk, thereby usurping the state's authority.

- That's right, he skipped the protocol there. And the reason Uk did that is not because he is a fan of folk music, but because it is populist and pays off, because now certain cultural figures, as well as politicians around Naša stranka, are trying to politically profit from the death of Halid Bešlić, realizing how popular he was among our people.

Let me just remind you that the former president of their party said that they fought against people who listen to folk music during the war, and that they have now come to power, supposedly sophisticated city dwellers, while on the other side are some primitives who listen to that kind of music.

And they were hypocritical there, as if they were fighting against such a culture, and now they are trying to score political points from the death of one of our greatest singers - emphasizes Muhasilović.

He adds that one of the primary goals of HDZ is destructive policy towards BiH until their demands regarding the Election Law concerning the election of the BiH Presidency member from the constituent peoples are fully met.

- And then they do everything to constantly raise the temperature and put pressure on the other side, so that their demands are met. However, Borjana Krišto is just an ordinary ikebana, or rather a hologram of Dragan Čović, who is in turn a hologram of Zagreb.

In fact, it is the policy of Zagreb - Zagreb is the one pursuing a destructive policy through HDZ in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And Borjana Krišto is just an instrument of that policy - concludes Muhasilović in an interview with NAP.
