Kosovo PM Kurti accuses Vučić and Radoičić of attacking Ibar-Lepenac canal: 'This is a terrorist act'

(Patria) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti last night accused Aleksandar Vučić and Milan Radoičić of organizing a terrorist attack on the Ibar-Lepenac canal, which occurred shortly after 7 PM in Donje Vrage in northern Kosovo.

According to information released at an extraordinary press conference, an explosive device was activated at a key junction of this canal, causing significant damage and water leakage, which led to the suspension of water supply to several cities in Kosovo. This canal also supplies the power generation plant in Obilić with drinking water.

Kurti stated that the damage from the explosion is extensive and that repairs will be challenging, warning that if the damage is not repaired by morning, parts of Kosovo could be left without electricity. He, along with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Minister of Internal Affairs Dželjalj Sveçla, described the incident as a "criminal-terrorist attack".

"We believe that criminal groups orchestrated and supported by Serbia are behind this attack, with the interest and capability to carry out such attacks," Kurti said. He clearly pointed to Belgrade as responsible for the attack, emphasizing that Milan Radoičić, with the support of Serbian institutions, is at the head of these criminal structures.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo recalled that three explosions have been recorded in northern Kosovo in the last three days, which were directed against Kosovo institutions, with the aim of causing fear and insecurity among the residents of the northern municipalities and further escalating the political situation.

The Kosovo government condemned these attacks, noting that the explosions occurred on November 26, 28, and 29, and urged citizens to remain calm and follow official statements. They warned of the threats of "hybrid warfare" and that some portals are attempting to spread disinformation and create panic.

National Security Council: Attack orchestrated by Serbia

An extraordinary session of the National Security Council was held during the night, chaired by Albin Kurti. The session was convened due to the third attack in the last 72 hours, which this time targeted critical infrastructure, namely the water supply and electricity generation system.

The meeting also presented the claim that the attack could be the result of orchestration by the Serbian state apparatus, which, as stated, has the capacity for such criminal and terrorist actions. Statements mentioned terrorist organizations such as "Civil Defense" and "Northern Brigade," as well as Milan Radoičić, who is considered the key organizer of the attack.

As a potential factor in the organization of the attack, the Kosovo Security Council also mentioned Russia, citing a probable connection between the attacks on Kosovo and aggressive Russian actions in Ukraine, where energy capacities were targeted, leaving a million Ukrainian households without electricity.

A decision was made to strengthen security measures around critical facilities, including bridges, power substations, lakes, and canals, and to activate the police and Kosovo Security Force to maintain security.

International cooperation has also been intensified to prevent similar attacks in the future.
