Konaković Defends Čović's Interests: He Cares About State Property When Needed, His Ministers Showed Their Stance in Vareš!

(Patria) - Leader of People and Justice Elmedin Konaković criticized the Draft Law on Southern Interconnection proposed by SDA, and called on the FBiH Government to offer its draft law at the next session.

With this statement, Konaković actually sided with Dragan Čović, who has been blocking the Southern Interconnection project for a long time. It is now more than clear that Konaković did nothing after the letter sent to him by Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, who requested that the issue of the Southern Interconnection be resolved.

The question is now open, was Konaković an accomplice to Čović. Here's why.

Konaković accused SDA of undermining Constitutional Court of BiH rulings in the Draft Law on Southern Interconnection and handing over state property on a platter to SNSD and others in RS who deny that state property is indeed state property.

And, if Konaković is right, the reaction time is too late, and it is now evident that the Southern Interconnection project is not in the interest of all parties of the Trojka, meaning they are more aligned with Čović's stance.

"There are those who think that SDA is simply not capable and doesn't know what it's doing, I have been convinced many times that this is not true and that they are consciously working against the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and for their party interests," Konaković stated.

Incidentally, at the 20th session of the FBiH Government on 15.11.2023 (i.e., the government led by Nermin Nikšić), a DECISION ON CHANGING THE PURPOSE OF FOREST LAND AND TEMPORARY USE OF FOREST LAND FOR OTHER PURPOSES (Vareš case) was made.

SDA is not part of this FBiH Government, but Konaković, whose ministers supported this decision, remained silent and did not comment on this disastrous decision, which will ultimately be overturned by the Constitutional Court of BiH.

"The Law on Southern Interconnection, in Article 8, precisely stipulates and is harmonized with this decision. The FBiH Government enabled the change of purpose of forest land, and the Law on Southern Interconnection precisely follows that decision.

To resolve this situation, Article 8 only needs to be removed from the law because the Government's Decision is also illegal, especially since it applies to all situations where the purpose of forest land is changed. For the gas pipeline, the right of servitude is required, and ownership is not established," explains Almir Bečarević for Patria.

SDA MP in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Jasmina Bišćević Tokić, responded, accusing Konaković of working in the interest of HDZ.

"Konaković, between subservience to HDZ and the interests of the state of BiH by claiming that SDA is working against the interests of the state of BiH, the leader of NIP, Elmedin Konaković, once again shows he is a master of spin. And nothing more than that. In fact, he is more than that, he is a submissive and obedient servant of HDZ BiH, which he clearly enjoys in that role," says Bišćević Tokić.

She adds that Konaković wants to prevent the adoption of the Law on Southern Interconnection in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament and has placed himself in the service of protecting the interests of HDZ and Dragan Čović.

She reminded that NiP MPs at the 11th regular session of the House of Representatives held on May 28, 2024, voted to grant an Energy Permit to the economic entity Solar Lena d.o.o. Grude, even though it concerns state land, and in doing so, according to her, they acted in the interest of HDZ.

"I clearly and loudly pointed out at the session of the House of Representatives that it is state property, but that was not important to NiP MPs and their boss Konaković. Therefore, on May 28, 2024, Konaković gifted state land to HDZ, which he is allegedly defending today," Bišćević Tokić stated.
