
(Patria) - According to analyzed financial reports for 2023, 1,033 entrepreneurs operated in the taxi transport sector with a total of 2,114 employees.
Total revenues amounted to 52.7 million euros, while expenses were slightly higher at 53 million euros, resulting in the sector closing the year with a net loss of 532,000 euros, reports Jutarnji list.
A comparison with 2022 shows a strong increase in activity: revenues rose by 40.8%, expenses by 42.1%, and period profit by 43%, but period loss also increased by as much as 67.4%.
Although the number of entrepreneurs did not change significantly, the number of employees increased by 64%, indicating business expansion, but also potential sustainability challenges.
The average monthly net salary in the taxi service sector was 381 euros, which is 12.1% less than the previous year, and as much as 62.9% below the national average salary for entrepreneurs, which stands at 1,028 euros.
The trade balance, which was positive in 2022, turned negative in 2023. Exports fell by 17.5% (to 1.1 million euros), while imports increased by 106.8%, reaching 1.5 million euros, resulting in a deficit of 430,000 euros.
The five most successful companies generated 25.3% of the sector's total revenues, suggesting a relatively high market concentration. Zagreb leads in terms of the number of companies and revenues.
The largest concentration of taxi entrepreneurs is in Zagreb – 374 of them, where the highest revenues were also generated, totaling 19.1 million euros.
This is followed by Split-Dalmatia (120), Osijek-Baranja (109), and Zadar counties (104). The fewest are in Virovitica-Podravina (2), Brod-Posavina (3), and Požega-Slavonia counties (3).
The highest net profit was recorded by entrepreneurs from Osijek-Baranja county (608,000 euros), while those in Zadar reported the largest total loss – 617,000 euros.
