From June 2nd to 6th, the History Fest, whose main promoter and founder is Professor Husnija Kamberović, will be held in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have often advocated that intellectuals, or rather science, should start dealing with our problems, both past, present, and most importantly, future.
That is why I have pressured the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina several times to abandon trivial discussions that change nothing. Because, although many consider that Academy a state-building and important institution, it has shown itself to be uninterested in pointing out possible solutions to our situations in any way during the time of chaos and crises in post-Dayton BiH.
However, from another point of view, if that ANUBiH were to act like Prof. Kamberović through his History Fest, then it would be better for them to deal with street layouts in Sarajevo than with serious topics.
To preserve the present and ensure a better future, historical fact-finding is essential for us. Especially since we are under attack from Serbian-Croatian revisionism through various forms of special warfare, which persistently try to define the double aggression against the independent Republic of BiH as a civil war.
And it seems that Husnija Kamberović has decided to help them with that by inviting Nevenka Tromp to be the main star of his history festival. And what kind of history that is, is sufficiently explained and illuminated by the fact that the Hague babbler and Serbian criminal Vojislav Šešelj praised Nevenka Tromp.
"I don't know where the emphasis, triumphalism, and euphoria that Serbia was convicted of participating in the war comes from, I don't see it in this verdict. There was no genocide in the indictments against Stanišić and Simatović. The prosecution did not qualify the crimes as genocide, nor could it have been in the verdict against Stanišić and Simatović," Nevenka Tromp was telling her version of historical revisionism to naive Bosniaks on a Sarajevo media outlet often prone to promoting pro-Serbian revisionism in the capital of BiH.
And she said all this after the verdict against Jovica Stanišić and Frenki Simatović, denying that the verdict for their criminal responsibility has anything to do with Serbia, even though it concerns the top of Serbia's security service.
Nevenka Vrkić Tromp is, let's remind the naive, but also Prof. Husnija Kamberović, one of the authors of the shameful NIOD report, a report that in 2002 acquitted Serbia of genocide in Srebrenica, all on the eve of the trial of Slobodan Milošević.
Therefore, there is nothing problematic about the role and intentions of Nevenka Vrkić Tromp; she has chosen her side and the path of revisionism. But it is insane, shameless, and above all, scientifically and patriotically treacherous to invite her to talk about the genocide in Srebrenica in Sarajevo.
I don't know and won't delve into Husnija Kamberović's intentions and goals with the festival, but the fact is that victims, intellectuals, and journalists have pointed out that this is disrespect and an attack on the dignity of the victims, but above all, on the truth about the aggression against BiH.
And when a wide circle and spectrum of public figures and victims clearly state their position that she does not belong where genocide is discussed, then Kamberović must understand that message if the intentions of the festival are to truly lead dialogue and draw conclusions based on facts and verdicts.
However, dialogue and history cannot be conducted and written with those whom Šešelj uses as witnesses for the Belgrade narrative that genocide was not committed in Srebrenica.
You see, Nevenka Tromp is not the only problem in all of this. We know her, her biography, and her path. The problem is Husnija Kamberović, who, under the guise of academic pluralism and supposed courage to "open difficult topics," is actually doing what useful idiots of all Belgrade and Zagreb policies have been doing here for decades – giving legitimacy to those who want to relativize crimes against Bosniaks.
And let no one sell me the story about academic freedom and the necessity of different opinions. Because, you know, there is a clear difference between scientific polemics and openly giving a platform to those whose theses are dangerous, disastrous, and historically false.
After all, it's no wonder Kamberović chose Tromp. In a country where the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina has reduced its state-building function to discussions about traffic light arrangements and municipal iconography, someone like Husnija had to take on the role of an academic clown. And let it be known – the problem is not that Kamberović is organizing a festival, but that under the guise of history, he is creating a political platform for the relativization of genocide.
And the fact that he is applauded by the same media outlets that have been washing their hands of the truth about the aggression for years is just further proof that in Sarajevo today, you can even sell the story that Šešelj is a humanitarian, as long as you package it well in a festival and a few Latin phrases.
Therefore, Husnija, if you have any shred of decency left, next year bring Milorad Dodik to talk about multi-ethnic love, to complete your revisionist fair. Perhaps he, like Šešelj with Nevenka, will give you some compliment.
