(Patria) - The Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) thoroughly embarrassed itself with yesterday's post on its Facebook page.
The HTZ invited followers to visit the Croatian island of Korčula and wrote: "Where the charm of history meets the turquoise sea."
However, in the post, they included a photo of Rovinj, which confused users, mostly foreigners who quickly noticed the mistake.
In the comments, people tried to correct the HTZ, stating that it was not Korčula, but Rovinj, and they clearly know Croatia better than the institution that promotes it, writes Morski.hr.
The post remained online for almost 16 hours before being deleted, and you can see a screenshot of the post below.
The HTZ explained their mistake in a statement, which they say was unintentional.
"Dear users, the post on the Facebook social network is the result of an unintentional error by the SM agency with which we cooperate and which is engaged to support the implementation of Facebook activities in foreign markets.
In this case, it was a programmed post that was published automatically.
The post was removed as soon as the error was noticed because there is no possibility to correct/replace the photo itself in pre-programmed posts.
Also, we take this opportunity to thank our loyal and numerous followers on the Facebook social network for their understanding and good-intentioned pointing out of the unintentional error," the HTZ stated.
