Janez Janša elected Prime Minister of Slovenia with 51 votes

(Patria) - Janez Janša has been elected the new Prime Minister of Slovenia with 51 votes. The result of the vote means he has the support of at least one opposition MP. It is not known who this is. Janez Janša has already taken the oath as the new Prime Minister in the National Assembly. 87 MPs voted, 51 for and 36 against.

"The National Assembly has just taken the first step towards Slovenia being more successful, but this was not the last necessary step for Slovenia to get a new government. We still have work to do. I hope that in two weeks at the latest, we will meet here with the complete team that will work for the good of Slovenia," said the new Prime Minister.

Regarding who voted in the 51st election, Janša said he doubted it was a political offense, but "it is probably simply common sense even in parties or parliamentary groups that did not support with signatures".

He announced that talks on reducing the number of employees will begin on Monday.

According to Janša, the SDS did not obstruct others after the election results were announced.

"Others tried to form a majority coalition, but they simply failed. We approached this differently, programmatically, step by step," he said.
