EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS: Lower voter turnout in Croatia than in 2019 and 2014

(Patria) - By the afternoon, only 487,000 voters, or 15.05 percent, had turned out for the European Parliament elections in Croatia, the State Electoral Commission (DIP) announced at 5 p.m.

This is a significantly lower turnout compared to the 2019 European elections, when 21.31 percent had voted by the same time, and also compared to the 2014 elections, when turnout was 16.45 percent.

The right to vote to elect 12 Croatian representatives to the European Parliament was held by 3,371,000 voters in the country and 40 countries abroad.

"According to the data we have collected, by 4:30 p.m. a total of 487,032 voters had cast their ballots, which is 15.05 percent. If we compare this to 2019, it is significantly lower, when it was 21.31 percent. It is even lower compared to the 2014 elections, when turnout at the same time was 16.45 percent," said Damir Kontrec, Vice President of the State Electoral Commission, for Croatian Radio.
