(Patria) - Students in blockade condemned last night's incidents at protests in Vrbas and Bačka Palanka, stating that attacks on citizens, as well as the negligence of authorities and competent institutions - "will not be tolerated".
The students announced on Instagram that simultaneous riots broke out in Vrbas and Bačka Palanka, "organized by supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS)".
"Stones, bottles with ice were thrown at peacefully gathered citizens, and pyrotechnics were also used, resulting in injuries to a large number of people. Although the police were present at the scene, they did nothing to prevent such attacks," the students wrote, with the message "Serbia, wake up".
They condemned, as they stated, not only this form of violent behavior, but also the "complete disregard for the responsibility of the bodies responsible for preserving public order and peace".
"We tell the citizens of Bačka Palanka and Vrbas that they are not alone, we stand firmly with them and support their fight for peace and justice," the statement said.
Incidents also occurred in Novi Sad and Belgrade, and in front of the SNS premises, there was a police cordon that pushed back the gathered crowd.
