(Patria) - The opposition in Serbia has announced that it will be able to form a government in Niš and Čačak, stating that these are now free cities, however, Aleksandar Vučić's SNS also claims to have enough for a majority.
Based on 92 percent of the processed sample in Niš, the SNS won 44.5 percent, "Dr Dragan Milić" 24.5 percent, "Biramo Niš" 15.8 percent, "Ujedinjeni" four percent, "Dr Savo Manojlović" four percent, and the Russian Party 1.2 percent.
The seat distribution projection for Niš is 30 councilors, with the citizens' group "Dr Dragan Milić" having 16, "Branimo Niš" 10 seats, "Ujedinjeni" and "Dr Savo Manojlović" two councilors each, and the Russian Party one.
Judging by the current results, the balance for forming a government will be tipped by one hand from the Russian Party.
Aleksandar Vučić and the SNS have declared victory in Niš, as well as in Čačak, where the opposition also claims it could form a government. However, the results in Čačak do not seem to favor the opposition.
Despite this, the leader of the Dveri movement, Boško Obradović, claims that the SNS did not cross the required 50 percent. The opposition, on the other hand, states that there was a large number of phantom voters from surrounding towns such as Požega in this city.
Regarding the results in Belgrade municipalities, Vučić said that the results in two are interesting, and that they will have a majority in the others. The current mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, said that the opposition could win Vračar and Stari Grad, and possibly Novi Beograd, out of a total of 17 Belgrade municipalities.
The Election Commission in Serbia last night failed to read the preliminary results because, as they state, they are still counting.
