Croatian Parliament to vote on confidence in the new government today

(Patria) - The designate for forming the new government and HDZ president Andrej Plenković will present the new ministers in the Croatian Parliament today.

After the debate, MPs will vote on confidence in the government, which will have 18 ministries, three of which belong to the Homeland Movement.

The session will begin at 9:30 AM with MPs presenting their views in free speeches, followed by a debate on the new government at 11 AM.

Last week, Plenković presented President Zoran Milanović with the signatures of 78 MPs in the Croatian Parliament, as part of the procedure for granting the mandate to form a new government.

Yesterday, the Croatian Parliament amended the Law on the Organization and Scope of State Administration Bodies with 79 votes, establishing two new ministries - the Ministry of Demography and Immigration and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, which was previously part of the Ministry of Economy, so the government will now have 18 ministries.

Plenković and the president of the Homeland Movement, Ivan Penava, signed a coalition agreement yesterday, a month after the elections, which defines the cooperation between the two parties in the future government.

After signing the coalition agreement, Plenković did not want to reveal the names of the ministers from the HDZ ranks, briefly stating that he would say everything on Friday.

President Zoran Milanović signed the Law on the Organization and Scope of State Administration Bodies, which was passed by Parliament yesterday, last night, the spokesperson for the President's Office confirmed to Hina.

Amendments to this law establish two new ministries - demography and immigration, and environmental protection and transition, and operationalize the agreement between HDZ and DP according to which the new government will have 18, instead of the current 16 ministries.
