Croatian Minister of Defence: No soldier of ours will go to Ukraine

(Patria) - After Croatian President Zoran Milanović explained yesterday why he refused to give consent for sending members of the Armed Forces into support missions, the Government has fully published the Draft Proposal of that decision.

It states that the condition for its implementation is that NATO is not and will not become a party to the military conflict in Ukraine, and that activities will not be carried out on the territory of Ukraine, writes HRT.

Furthermore, members of the Croatian Armed Forces cannot be assigned duties outside the territory of the Alliance, nor engaged on the territory of Ukraine.

Croatian Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić, who is currently on a working visit to the USA, also commented on Milanović's decision.

- I want to clarify one thing - no Croatian soldier, nor officer will go to Ukraine, nor will a Croatian soldier fight in Ukraine.

This is a spin that is currently being repeated in Croatia, not only by Milanović, but also by some of his political allies, thus spreading panic and misinforming the public.

This is very dangerous and they should be responsible for their words. But they clearly are not.

What has happened now, and it concerns two officers who were supposed to be in Wiesbaden, Germany, on a support mission for NATO allies, is something that will again leave a mark within the NATO alliance when we talk about Croatia - said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Croatia Ivan Anušić.
