(Patria) - At the Karasovići border crossing, customs officers and police officers of the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police seized the largest amount of cash ever at Croatian borders, as much as 702,435 euros.
During enhanced surveillance measures, authorized customs officers from the Service for Combating Smuggling and Investigations and the Mobile Units Sector of the Dubrovnik Mobile Units Service stopped a passenger vehicle driven by an Albanian citizen.
An inspection of the vehicle revealed that the driver had not declared the cash to the Customs Administration or the Border Police, as required, but the money was hidden in compartments of the car.
The cash was confiscated, and the man was arrested on suspicion of committing a criminal offense and handed over to the detention supervisor.
An investigation into the origin of the money is ongoing.
