Croatia rewards its Olympic bronze medalist in Paris with 18,500 euros

(Patria) - Croatia has won its first medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Shooter Miran Maričić (27) won bronze in the 10-meter air rifle final, writes Index.hr.

In addition to the medal, the Croatian shooter also received a handsome financial reward from the Republic of Croatia - he earned 18,500 euros.

According to the new regulations, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports awards 41,000 euros for Olympic gold, 26,000 for silver, and the aforementioned 18,500 for a bronze Olympic medal.

Croatia is one of the few countries that provides permanent incentives to its medal winners, both athletes and coaches.

Athletes receive compensation worth 40 to 100 percent of the average Croatian net salary from the age of 45, and coaches from the age of 55.

The amount of compensation is determined by the number of medals won and the competitions in which they were won.

Therefore, Maričić will receive a minimum of 40 percent of the average Croatian net salary after the age of 45.
