(Patria) - American think tank Heritage Foundation sent a letter to hundreds of addresses condemning the efforts of US Ambassador to BiH Michael Murphy to have the FBiH Parliament adopt the Law on the Southern Interconnection, which would mean BH Gas would be responsible for the gas diversification project in BiH, accusing him of forcing "Christians" in the country to obey a law supported only by "Muslims".
The content of the letter, signed by James Carafano on behalf of the Heritage Foundation, gives the impression that its content has been entirely lobbied by the actions of the Republic of Croatia and the HDZ in BiH, writes Istraga.ba.
In this regard, representatives of the Heritage Foundation held a meeting with HDZ Croatia's representative in the European Parliament, Željana Zovko, this month.
The letter claims that Murphy wants to reverse things just a few weeks before Donald Trump takes office.
"Outgoing US Ambassador to BiH Michael Murphy is forcing Christians in the country to obey a gas law supported only by Muslims, which would change the market expansion for American fossil fuel producers, lock in Russian energy dominance in Europe, and endanger the stability of the Balkans just weeks before President Trump takes office again.
All in the name of a failed Bosnian nation-building project. Heritage Foundation Balkan expert Max Primorac calls it 'the Biden administration's last-ditch effort of identity-obsessed policy to lock in its leftist ideology and cause another global crisis just weeks before President Trump takes office again'.
He adds that 'the transition team should demand Ambassador Murphy's resignation... This is not in America's energy interests'," the letter states.
The author explains that in 2019, the Croatian government, led by conservatives, built a liquefied natural gas terminal on its coast to meet the energy needs of Eastern Europe, end Russian energy dominance over the region, and expand markets for American natural gas exporters.
"Croatia boasts a large regional pipeline network for the distribution of natural gas and oil to Eastern Europe. The LNG project received strong support from then-President Trump.
Part of the southern gas interconnection network is to connect Bosnia and Herzegovina. This would include the region in the US energy circle and outside Moscow's economic and political orbit.
However, the future of this strategic project is threatened by the State Department's decades-long and failed nation-building project, which would force Catholic Croats and Orthodox Serbs to adopt a false Bosnian identity promoted by a hardline Muslim faction in the country identifying as 'Bosniaks'.
The state-owned company BH Gas, based in Sarajevo, which would control the pipeline, is exclusively controlled by Muslims. Bosnian Croats demand that BH Gas be jointly managed while the line passes through their territory. Otherwise, Croatia, a NATO member, will certainly block the project," it is stated.
It is added that Murphy supports identity politics in energy.
"Murphy is aggressively pushing for the law before the end of this week that would lock in BH Gas's control over the branch. Such laws are usually passed with a Croat-Muslim agreement to ensure the political stability of the state.
In an unprecedented move, Murphy is rushing Muslim parliamentarians to adopt it without the participation of pro-Western Croats," the letter states.
The author further states that the money and politics of the US Democratic Party are at play, especially the Albright Stonebridge Group, a lobbying firm founded by President Clinton's Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and National Security Advisor Sandy Berger.
"Politico reported that ten Albright alumni joined Biden's team, including Victoria Nuland and US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
Current Assistant Secretary of State for Europe Jim O’Brien was vice-chairman of ASG. Murphy and O'Brien will soon be replaced.
According to the pro-Trump Croatian news outlet Poskok, Ambassador Murphy and O’Brien have increased the company's efforts in contact with BH Gas.
Primorac calls it 'an blatant conflict of interest for our diplomats. They should immediately withdraw from any further involvement in this gas issue and leave it to the next administration to manage'," the letter adds.
It further explains who the winners and losers will be in this case, and lists three conclusions.
It claims that if the Law is adopted in its current form, Russia will be the winner because it will allegedly maintain energy dominance in Southeast Europe "if the project fails due to Murphy's political interference".
"Second, Turkey has its strong political and family ties with the leaders of Bosnian Muslims in mind. Third - Iran. A high-ranking leader of the largest Muslim party SDA, Šefik Džaferović, was connected to Iranian terrorist camps in the mid-1990s.
The losers? American natural gas producers who consider Croatia a major importer. Also, the incoming Trump administration, which would be left with another foreign policy mistake by the Biden administration in the unstable Balkans," the letter concludes.
