Traffic jams and fuel shortages at gas stations across Croatia

(Patria) - Some gas stations in Croatia ran out of fuel just one day before new prices come into effect, which will bring an increase in prices, writes Dnevnik.hr.

There is a particular problem with diesel fuel.

Starting tomorrow, according to the new calculation for determining the highest retail prices of petroleum products, eurodiesel will increase to 1.73 euros per liter, and blue diesel to as much as 1.19 euros per liter.

This portal writes that in Konavle, some gas stations have no diesel; INA and Dirus have already informed their customers about the shortage of this type of fuel.

The fuel shortage in southern Croatia is not an isolated case. Some stations in other parts also lack fuel, but the problem seems to be not only the price but also the supply, as some stations are not receiving enough fuel while demand is increasing.

In Zagreb as well, at an INA gas station on Vukovar Street near Lisinski, there is a notice stating that Eurodiesel is unavailable, reports Index.

At the entrance to the gas station, it also states that Class Premium diesel is being sold at the price of regular diesel at two pumps.

Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar said after a government session that he had no information about a fuel shortage.

- Tankers were driving to all destinations last night as well, and the security of supply is ensured. I tell citizens that there is no need for irrational stockpiling of fuel.

Regarding the security of supply, it is not in question at any moment. At every part of the day, in every part of Croatia, the supply is proceeding smoothly.

Quantities that have been sold are constantly being replenished, so there are no supply disruptions. We have a refinery, and because of all this, we have security of supply - says Šušnjar.

He confirmed that today INA is the only one selling blue diesel.

- INA has its own refinery and has an advantage in positioning itself in the market differently from other distributors - added Šušnjar.
