Group of youths from SNS attacked students in Novi Sad with baseball bats, one female student hospitalized

(Patria) - Several students were attacked during the night in Novi Sad, and one female student was hospitalized.

"One girl is seriously injured, she is currently at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, her jaw is dislocated and she has injuries all over her body, several other students have minor physical injuries," according to a statement from the students delivered to N1 Serbia.

The students explain that four men with baseball bats chased a group of students who were putting up stickers and drawing stencils "Three months, three bridges," the students wrote.

The attack happened when a female student and a male student from the Faculty of Medicine, in front of the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party, put a sticker on a trash can, which was a call for a protest on February 1st in Novi Sad. Then, two unknown individuals came out of the SNS premises and immediately attacked the young man, the students explain.

"They grabbed him by the collar and started to choke him, the girl managed to record it with her phone, after which the unknown individuals took her phone and deleted the recording. Students from the Faculty of Medicine managed to break free and run away, but the attackers, after quickly returning to the SNS premises, came back and started chasing them, first on foot, then in a "Chevrolet" car, when they almost hit two students," the students describe the event.

According to the attacked students, the same two men, along with two others and baseball bats, attacked another group of students near the "Petefi Šandor" elementary school. During that, one female student sustained severe bodily injuries, she was kicked and hit with bats. The other students who were attacked managed to escape with minor physical injuries, they claim.

"We strongly condemn this attack and are appalled by the state of our society in which such a situation is even possible. We demand that the persons responsible for the attack on the students be identified as soon as possible and that they be treated in accordance with the law," the students stated in their announcement.

"We appeal to all competent institutions to get involved as soon as possible and start doing their job. We've had enough blood!" the students stated in the announcement delivered to N1.
