Grlić Radman: We have never had such a low level of cooperation with Serbia

(Patria) - Croatia wants a guaranteed seat in the Serbian parliament for a member of the Croatian minority, said Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman today, a day after the Croatian representative Tomislav Žigmanov did not enter the National Assembly in the elections in Serbia.

Žigmanov, president of the Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina and Serbia's Minister for Human and Minority Rights, did not enter parliament in Sunday's elections.

- We are not satisfied with the position of the Croatian people in Serbia - said Grlić Radman, commenting on the result of the Croatian representative, who ran in the elections in coalition with "partners from Bosniak parties".

Grlić Radman believes this is a structural inequality.

- If Croatia has guaranteed three seats in the Croatian Parliament for the Serbian minority, we also expect equal rights for the Croatian minority in Serbia. A Croatian seat should be guaranteed - said Grlić Radman.

Commenting on the election results in Serbia, where the Serbian Progressive Party of Aleksandar Vučić once again achieved a convincing victory, Grlić Radman says that these elections "have not eased" the political situation in Serbia in any way and that Vučić is still faced with many questions and problems that he must resolve.

He expressed hope that after the formation of the new government in Serbia, he will meet with the new minister and see "how the problems will be resolved" which are "primarily a legacy of the Homeland War".

Grlić Radman also believes that Croatia and Serbia have never had such a low level of cooperation as today, and that the cause is the unwillingness of the Serbian authorities to face the past and take steps towards strengthening good neighborly relations.
