Border Police Still Investigating How Dodik Crossed the Border in March, He's in Serbia Again Today and 'Waving at Us from Informer'

By: A. Čorbo-Zećo

The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina have not yet released the results of the investigation opened in March into how Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska, crossed the state border into Serbia despite a central warrant.

Instead of the necessary answers, the public was met with a new shock on April 12 – Dodik crossed the border again, without any consequences and with complete silence from the institutions.

To make matters worse, it should be noted that OSA BiH also joined the investigation, but we do not know its results.

Dodik thus waved to the entire populace from Informer, where he first and foremost offered full support to Aleksandar Vučić.

Let us recall, Dodik was sentenced in February 2025 to one year in prison and a six-year ban from political activity for not respecting the decisions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Despite this verdict and an active warrant, he was recorded traveling to Serbia as early as March, which raised numerous doubts about the functioning of the security and judicial system in BiH. The Border Police then opened an investigation, but its results have never been published.

They continue to assure us that patience is key in this situation, that full trust in BiH institutions must be unquestionable, and that Dodik will eventually be arrested and questioned for the criminal offense he is accused of. But how can this trust be achieved when BiH institutions, especially now the BiH Border Police, cannot answer simple questions – how and who enabled Dodik to cross the borders.

It is becoming increasingly clear that without concrete steps from domestic institutions, Dodik is strengthening himself within his own entity, while state institutions remain silent, or rather, weaker in relation to him!

There are numerous questions: who enabled him to cross the border, did someone within the system consciously turn a blind eye (they certainly did, we suspect he uses migrant routes), and why are the results of the March investigation still being hidden from the public?

The lack of transparency regarding investigations and unclear answers about how Dodik could cross the border raise serious doubts about the functioning of these institutions.

All these uncertainties contribute to a deep sense of institutional crisis that threatens further destabilization of the country, which could ultimately mean that Dodik could get the much-desired dialogue.

For citizens, as well as for international actors, this raises serious questions about the future of BiH's political system and about how capable domestic institutions are of resisting the political influence of individuals like Dodik. So far, they have proven completely unsuccessful!
