(Patria) - A year has passed since the mass murder in the Serbian villages of Malo Orašje and Dubona, when U.B. (21) killed nine and wounded thirteen people.
The youngest victim was fourteen-year-old Nikola, and the oldest was twenty-five-year-old Petar Mitrović, reports RSE.
The mass murder was committed a day after the multiple murder at the "Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school in Belgrade.
On May 4 last year, in Malo Orašje, Nikola Milić (14), Aleksandar Milovanović (17), Marko Mitrović (18), Lazar Milovanović (19), Nemanja Stevanović (21), and Petar Mitrović (25), who died in the hospital nearly two months after the crime, were killed.
In Dubona, siblings Milan (22) and Kristina Panić (19), and Dalibor Todorović (24) were killed.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the crime, the city of Smederevo is organizing a commemorative program in Malo Orašje today.
It has been announced that during the official program, the documentary film "Nebeska družina" (Heavenly Company) will be shown, featuring testimonies about the lives, achievements, and talents of the victims.
In memory of the victims, a memorial football tournament will be played on the field near the crime scene, organized by FK Ravni Gaj, with the aim of collecting aid for the continued recovery of the injured.
The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) called on media to suspend programming at 10:32 PM, when the mass murder occurred.
U.B. is suspected of having, after the shooting in Malo Orašje, arrived by car in the village of Dubona near Mladenovac, about ten kilometers away, where he killed police officer Milan Panić, his sister Kristina Panić, and Dalibor Todorović.
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Smederevo filed an indictment against the attacker, and he is charged with killing nine people, two of whom were minors, by firing an automatic rifle and a pistol.
He attempted to kill another 20 people, 12 of whom were wounded.
The Higher Court in Smederevo confirmed the indictment at the end of January 2024, and a preliminary hearing before the start of the trial was scheduled for May 23.
The indictment also includes his father, uncle, and cousin from Kragujevac.
The investigation established that the attacker's father, Radiša B., illegally kept a large quantity of firearms, ammunition, and explosive materials in the house.
G.G. and B.G. from Kragujevac are charged on the grounds of reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of illegal production, possession, carrying, and placing on the market of weapons and explosive materials, as they illegally kept a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices in the house and auxiliary room.
