Case Formed Against Milo Đukanović

(Patria) - The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has formed a case regarding an interview with the former President of Montenegro and DPS, Milo Đukanović.

The interview was for the Podgorica-based Radio Antena M, in which Đukanović called the recent arrests of his closest associates political revenge and compared it to blood feuds.

After a detailed analysis of the interview, the Higher State Prosecutor's Office will, if necessary, undertake further measures and actions in order to make a decision on any potential criminal offense, the Higher Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica informed the RTCG portal.

"The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has formed a case regarding the publication of the interview on portals, which Antena M gave to M.Đ., and which was submitted by the Police Administration to this prosecutor's office for assessment to review the potential existence of elements of a criminal offense for which prosecution is initiated ex officio," the prosecutor's office stated, as reported by Tanjug.

The prosecutor's office added that it has ordered the Police Administration to obtain and submit the interview in electronic form from Radio Antena M to this prosecutor's office, and that, as they stated, after a detailed analysis of the interview, further measures and actions will be taken if necessary to make a decision.

In the interview, Đukanović also said that the country lives in a "poisoned atmosphere" and that, as he stated, the "persecution in Montenegro will continue." He also stated that he is obliged to warn about this, because "Montenegrin society is a society of avengers”.

"This is not only characteristic of Albanian communities, with which blood feuds are mostly associated," said Đukanović, adding that "in the heart of Montenegro, in Katunska nahija, blood feuds among certain old Montenegrin families have lasted for more than 200 years”.

“Whoever does not know this, does not understand how dangerous it is when your only policy after coming to power becomes revenge. Revenge is just a political name for vengeance. This means that there is no awareness that a line should be drawn under the Montenegrin practice of revenge. Whoever is doing what they are doing now does not understand that they have already started a new chapter of Montenegrin vendettas. And they are very mistaken if they do not recognize their own handcuffs tomorrow in the handcuffs they are gloating over on other people's hands,” Đukanović stated.
