European Union: We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Kosovo

(Patria) - The European Union strongly condemns the terrorist attack committed on Friday on the Ibar Lepenac water channel in Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo. This is a heinous act of sabotage on critical civilian infrastructure in Kosovo, which provides drinking water for a significant part of Kosovo's population and represents a vital component of Kosovo's energy system, it was announced from Brussels.

The sharp reaction of the European Union's diplomatic service also emphasizes that support has been offered to the Kosovo authorities, and that Brussels continues to coordinate the next steps with relevant partners, including locally with KFOR. The EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, EULEX, is providing assistance to the Kosovo authorities in accordance with its mandate.

"We stand in solidarity with all those across Kosovo affected by the attack. I conveyed these messages of solidarity and support directly to Prime Minister Albin Kurti this afternoon.

The criminal act committed in Zubin Potok must be investigated, and its perpetrators brought to justice. In this regard, the EU calls on all stakeholders to fully cooperate with the Kosovo authorities and will continue to closely monitor developments," the statement issued personally by the High Representative and Head of EU Diplomacy Josep Borrell reads.

Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti also strongly condemned this act of terrorism. In a special press statement, he accused Serbia of being behind it.

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, also joined the condemnation.

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić rejected the accusations that his country is behind another act of terrorism in Kosovo.
