Two serious accidents in Croatia: Two women killed, several injured

(Patria) - Dubrovnik-Neretva police reported two serious accidents, on Korčula and Pelješac, in which two people were killed and several were injured.

"Today, July 25, a traffic accident occurred on Korčula and a traffic incident on Pelješac, which resulted in two fatalities and several injured persons.

The first serious traffic accident occurred this morning around 10:40 AM on the D-118 road, between the villages of Blato and Vela Luka on Korčula.

The accident happened when a motorcycle, with Italian license plates, driven by a 58-year-old Italian citizen, collided with a car with Dubrovnik license plates that was moving in front of it and turning left at that moment.

As a result of the impact, the 58-year-old motorcyclist fell to the road along with his 55-year-old passenger, also an Italian citizen, and sustained serious bodily injuries.

After receiving medical assistance, the motorcyclist was transported by helicopter to the Split hospital center, while his passenger was transported to the Dubrovnik hospital where the extent of her injuries is being determined.

Police also reported another accident that occurred around 1:50 PM on the D-8 state road, between the villages of Ponikve and Prapratno on Pelješac.

Two cars with Croatian license plates were involved in this incident, colliding head-on.

All six participants in the incident were injured, and one person died on the way to the hospital. This was a Croatian citizen aged 74.

Police later announced that another person died from the consequences of the head-on collision at the Dubrovnik hospital. This was a foreign national whose identity is still being determined.

Due to the need to conduct an investigation, which is ongoing, traffic on this section of the road is completely closed and diverted to ŽC 625 from the Prapratno junction to the Zaradež junction.

After the investigation is completed, the circumstances that led to the mentioned fatalities will be known, police said.
