(Patria) - The monument to the notorious Chetnik commander Pavle Đurišić, which was unveiled today in the Berane village of Gornje Zaostro, has been removed.
The monument was removed by locals.
Earlier today, the monument was unveiled by Metropolitan Methodius of Budimlja-Nikšić of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Methodius, who served liturgy in the Temple of Saint Paraskeva in that place, said that he would place the monument in the church, "so let them come to tear down the church".
"Eternal memory to Duke Pavle and all soldiers, warriors, officers, non-commissioned officers and fighters of the Yugoslav army in the homeland", said Methodius.
"Vijesti" was previously told that the police had come last night, around two hours after midnight, but the gathered people did not allow them to remove the monument to Đurišić, and it was agreed that they would remove it themselves after it was consecrated.
