Đukanović: Values of anti-fascism are a key point of support for the country's future

(Patria) - Former Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović congratulated citizens on Statehood Day, pointing to the importance of the tradition of freedom and national dignity which, as he stated, illuminate the path of Montenegrin progress through the centuries.

"Happy July 13th - Statehood Day to all who respect and are proud of the tradition of freedom and national dignity of our country," Đukanović wrote on the X platform.

He emphasized that the historical achievements of this significant date represent the foundation on which a modern and democratic society is built.

"The historical achievements of this great date through the centuries illuminate the path of Montenegro's progress and development and represent a secure framework for building a modern democratic Montenegrin society with a certain European perspective," Đukanović said.

He particularly emphasized the values of anti-fascism, stressing that they remain a key point of support for the country's future.

"In anti-fascism lies our security, our strength, and our hope for the longevity of Montenegro. And a sure defense against attempts to revise history, which we are witnessing these days. Long live Montenegro," the former president stated.
