While Vučić denies, analysts claim a 'sound cannon' broke the silence: European Union institutions will also be informed

(Patria) - After last night's protest in Belgrade, during 15 minutes of silence for the 15 victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse, was interrupted by a loud sound that caused a stampede and panic among those present, recordings and testimonies of how it looked are still emerging today.

Multiple recordings published on X clearly show police officers moving against the crowd of students and citizens who were standing peacefully in silence to honor the victims.

According to military analysts, it was a sound weapon or a "sound cannon" that is part of Serbia's security system, and President Aleksandar Vučić denied its use in his address to the public last night after the protests concluded.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs knew what would happen. They issued a statement saying they did not use a sound cannon. This video shows the police fleeing in the opposite direction of the impact.

"The protest was brutally interrupted by the use of a sound cannon – a sophisticated weapon that causes pain, disorientation, dizziness, and can lead to permanent hearing damage," stated Democratic Party President Srđan Milivojević, adding:

"The use of such technology against one's own citizens is not only an act of repression but also a flagrant violation of international conventions and rights, and as such, is subject to criminal liability."

He also stated that he would urgently inform the international community about this act, including human rights organizations and European Union institutions.

Hundreds of thousands of students and citizens have gathered in Belgrade since Friday evening, with estimates around 400,000. Images of the protests have gone around the world, and numerous international media outlets have broadcast the protests live.
