Dačić: Serbia sent a protest note to Interpol regarding arrest warrants for Dodik and Stevandić

(Patria) - Our country is committed to preserving the sovereignty and human rights of its citizens, recognizing that the protection of every individual is the foundation of our international obligations," Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić told the media.

Given the fact that they are Serbian citizens, Dačić states that Interpol Belgrade sent a protest note to the General Secretariat of Interpol, because Article 3 of the Interpol Statute, which reads: "Any activity or intervention in matters or cases of a political, military, religious or racial nature is strictly forbidden in the Organization," was violated in the requests for issuing international arrest warrants for the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Nenad Stevandić.

The General Secretariat of Interpol confirmed the receipt of the protest note and stated that it will be taken into consideration, and that they will be informed of the results of the consideration in a timely manner, Dačić stated.

Dačić emphasized that Serbia advocates for the respect of international norms at all times, but at the same time will not allow any attempt to endanger the rights of its citizens by other states or international bodies.
