(Patria) - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dačić stated that the decision of the BiH CEC to terminate the mandate of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik is not only legally and politically controversial, but a direct attack on RS, but that the Serbian people will not remain silent in the face of injustice.
"If today they can dismiss a president elected in elections, tomorrow they can abolish Republika Srpska itself. The Serbian people will not remain silent in the face of injustice. And anyone who thinks we will watch this with folded hands is deeply mistaken," Dačić stated in a written statement.
Dačić emphasized that this is the biggest political blow to the Serbian people since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement to date.
He pointed out that this is not about Dodik as an individual, but about an attempt to render the institutions of Republika Srpska meaningless and to nullify the will of the citizens.
The BiH CEC today made a decision to terminate the mandate of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, elected in the General Elections in 2022, and an appeal is allowed against it.
The CEC made the decision to terminate the mandate after the Appellate Division of the BiH Court confirmed the earlier first-instance verdict by which the President of Republika Srpska was sentenced to one year in prison and a six-year ban from political activity for not respecting the decisions of the High Representative.
On Saturday, the Security Council of Serbia also convened and adopted six conclusions regarding Dodik's verdict, the first of which is that they do not recognize the final verdict of the BiH Court, and that the situation in BiH will further complicate and provoke inter-ethnic conflicts.
