Dačić asked Iran to support Serbia's stance on the Srebrenica Genocide Resolution

(Patria) - Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, in a phone conversation with Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian, insisted and lobbied for Iran to adopt a stance that suits Serbia regarding the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica against Bosniaks, the Novinska agencija Patria has learned.

Serbia is continuously lobbying Iran, while the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković and BiH diplomacy in general are shyly communicating with a country whose assistance was crucial in defending BiH from Serbian aggression.

In this conversation, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated the formation of the new convocation of the Serbian Assembly and stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches importance to relations with the state of Serbia.

Referring to Iran's principled stance on respecting the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, he emphasized the commitment and respect of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.

Dr. Amir Abdollahian also clarified Iran's policy towards the Balkan region.

"The definitive policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to support the consolidation of stability and security in the Balkans and to promote coexistence among all ethnic groups and followers of all religions in these areas. We welcome the strengthening of relations with Serbia," he said.

The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressing satisfaction with the communication and close interaction of high officials of the two countries at various levels, emphasized that the Republic of Serbia expresses full solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ivica Dačić assessed the application of double standards and the instrumental use of international institutions in line with the policy of pressure by certain Western governments on independent countries, and emphasized the need for greater solidarity among independent governments in the face of such efforts and actions.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Serbia emphasized the continuation of contacts for the further development and expansion of bilateral relations, as well as the continuation of consultations on regional and international issues.
