Dačić: Attack on Pavlović was organized, 11 people arrested

(Patria) - Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić stated this evening that the police have so far arrested 11 people for participating in the group that attacked Miloš Pavlović and his colleagues last night, who are otherwise students who want to study, in Studentski grad in New Belgrade.

- The police will continue their work to identify all those who participated in committing criminal offenses and misdemeanors and will file appropriate charges accordingly - criminal or misdemeanor.

We are doing our job and surely there will be more arrested, or rather, people brought to the police station - said Dačić.

He emphasizes that the further investigation is ongoing and that the prosecution will further announce for which criminal offenses and misdemeanors the arrested suspects are.

- Work will be done late into the night to identify the remaining participants in this attack. We have come into possession of certain recordings that indicate that this attack was planned.

That recording indicates that none of this was accidental, on that recording it says 'he is currently near Fontana in Studentski grad - let's go there'.

So, the departure there was organized with plans for what would be done, namely that Miloš Pavlović and his colleagues would be attacked.

We will not show it, because the arrest of the people in that recording is in progress - states Dačić.

He called on everyone to understand that public order and peace, and the safety of every citizen must be respected in Serbia, regardless of their political or "any commitment to the current situation".

He stated that no one will unsuccessfully pressure the police to not do their job.

- We must have the same yardstick for everyone. If the police are asked to react when someone else is attacked, why are they protesting now when someone attacks their political opponents, as was the case last night - asked Dačić.

He added that this must not happen in Serbia.

- The fact that you are exerting pressure speaks volumes about you, that pressure will not succeed, and therefore I recommend that you do not engage in it. It will not affect the police in any way to do their part of the job - Dačić concluded.
