'Guardians of Bosnia': It's time for state-building parties to act concretely, it's an illusion that foreigners will solve BiH's problems!

(Patria) - While domestic political actors and representatives of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina repeat phrases about "peace" and "stability" daily, a process is underway on the ground that is consciously destroying the foundations of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the stability they speak of.

Those who openly follow the political, ideological, and wartime legacy of Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić on one side, and Mate Boban, Dario Kordić, and others on the other, are today continuing to achieve wartime goals with their political, institutional, and security capacities – the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the annexation of its parts to Serbia and Croatia.

Faced with these facts, the association "Guardians of Bosnia" expresses concern due to the apparent powerlessness and inadequacy of pro-Bosnian and Bosniak politics to seriously and systematically counter this process.

"Instead of making concrete political decisions and developing comprehensive strategies for the protection of state interests and the security of the people, most political parties that declaratively call themselves patriotic continue to futilely appeal to the international community and its institutions within BiH, which have been pursuing a policy of avoiding responsibility for years under the pretext that all problems must be resolved through 'internal dialogue'.

However, the international community knows very well with whom it is calling for dialogue. It knows very well that in the territory of the smaller BiH entity sit those who deny genocide, glorify convicted war criminals, and openly threaten secession.

It also knows that these actors have been blocking state institutions for years, violating constitutional provisions, and systematically working to dismantle the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Despite this, the international community continues with a policy of balancing at the expense of the state.

Without underestimating the need for open dialogue among all political actors in BiH, we believe it is time for pro-Bosnian and Bosniak parties, which call themselves state-building and patriotic, to stop this practice of political begging and the illusory expectation that someone from outside will solve problems that they themselves must take into their own hands.

It is necessary to proceed as soon as possible with the development of concrete political plans and security strategies that will clearly define the steps in protecting territorial integrity, the constitutional order, citizens' rights, and national security.

Any further delay in this process means the continuation of the humiliation of the state and its sovereignty, and leaves room for the projects whose realization was attempted through armed aggression in the period 1992-1995 to be completed today through political means.

The consequences of such a situation are already felt in every segment of society – from economic blockades, destabilization of institutions, emigration of the population, to a systematic campaign of denying the identity and rights of the most numerous nation in Bosnia and Herzegovina," announced the association "Guardians of Bosnia".

They also state that peace and the state are not preserved by platitudes and futile appeals, but by decisive political, legal, and institutional action.

"It is time to stop the policy of improvisation and reaction, and to finally engage in a policy of planning, protecting interests, and proactive action.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is not spoils of war, but the state of all its citizens, and no one has the right to determine its destiny today based on war crimes and genocide," conclude "Guardians of Bosnia".
