The Spaniards took the lead in the 29th minute when Alvaro Morata scored.
The Red Fury reached a new goal and a 2:0 lead just three minutes later. Goalkeeper of Vatreni, Dominik Livaković, had no answer to Fabian Ruiz's shot.
In the stoppage time of the first half, the Spaniards scored their third goal through Dani Carvajal.
Spain was the better team in the second half as well. Admittedly, the Croatians scored a goal about ten minutes before the end, but it was disallowed.
The goal was preceded by a penalty kick saved by the Spanish goalkeeper, and in the ensuing action, Bruno Petković scored.
However, VAR technology disallowed the Croatians' goal because Ivan Perišić, who assisted Petković, had run into the penalty area too early.
In the second match of Group B tonight at 9 PM, Italy and Albania will play.
