(Patria) - The National Security Agency (ANB) of Montenegro obtained information on November 6 about the potential endangerment of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, about which he was informed in direct communication, according to a joint statement from the Police Directorate and ANB.
The statement stated that ANB also informed the Director of the Police Directorate, Zoran Brđanin, about the information. ANB also carried out a number of activities to verify and deepen the information, as well as to check the reliability of the source.
"In this regard, current findings suggest the conclusion that it is likely disinformation spread by third countries," the statement said.
It was emphasized that ANB, in cooperation with the Police Directorate, will continue to implement security protection measures for the President of Montenegro and members of his immediate family on an ongoing basis.
Milatović stated earlier today that it is not pleasant to receive information that claims related to the preparation of an assassination attempt on him are being investigated.
"I expect the competent authorities to do their job, and I will continue to do mine. I am completely unwavering when it comes to my part of the job, which concerns a civic Montenegro that is a country without corruption and crime, a Montenegro that is an EU member. My policy in this regard is very clear," Milatović said.
