Čović: Schmidt was not appointed by anyone, there will be no impositions, it won't work with the opposition from RS

(Patria) - HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović stated today for N1 that he had a plan with the opposition from RS after the meeting in Kupres, but that they do not have the capacity to make decisions.

Responding to the question of why he did not agree to form a new coalition at the state level, Čović answered with a counter-question - who will replace SNSD and Milorad Dodik?

- All those parties have already been in power. We are not giving an opportunity, it is a partnership. Whenever the opposition from RS gets the opportunity to pass laws, then they can be a partner.

The agreement with the opposition from RS was not implemented. We set a very clear plan to finalize the Law on the HJPC, the Law on the Court of BiH, and the Election Law, in April.

When that is done, as a prerequisite, we can move forward. They do not have the capacity to make decisions. Let them support all laws on May 29 and we have solved everything… Why would I look for a new partner - Čović said.

He said that two sessions are scheduled for next Thursday, one urgent and one regular.

- We still have a parliamentary majority today. Someone remembered that someone's behavior is not appropriate, but for that, we need a new parliamentary majority. There is no new agreement.

Let's implement what we agreed on, that applies to the 'trojka', Sarajevo or Banja Luka. If I have made any mistake in my life, it is when I outvoted the Bosniak caucus in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament - Čović emphasized.

He added that he thinks the Trojka is currently primarily dealing with the opposition on the "Bosniak side" and is thinking about how they will fare in the 2026 elections.

Speaking about the possibility of High Representative Christian Schmidt imposing a decision that would bypass the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto and appoint a Minister of Security, the HDZ president said that this will not happen.

- We do not need escalation or any imposition. This is our job, we must make decisions, that's it…

As far as I can see, no one appointed High Representative Christian Schmidt. There will be no impositions. We do not want any more impositions - Čović added.
