Čović: We Do Not Want to Accept Even the Minimal Possibility That the Bosniak People Again Elect Two Bosniak Members of the Presidency

(Patria) - President of the HDZ BiH Dragan Čović clearly expressed concern at today's meeting with the political directors of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) about the political and institutional crisis in which Bosnia and Herzegovina finds itself, the HDZ BiH announced.

Such a situation, he said, not only slows down necessary reform processes but also seriously threatens the functioning of institutions and further distances the country from the European perspective.

"Instead of focusing on reforms and European integration, which the HDZ advocates, the practice of multiple gross violations of the Constitution of BiH has been highlighted, as well as increasingly evident signs of an early election campaign that undermine the political agreement.

Čović also spoke about the functioning of the government at the BiH level, particularly commenting on last year's and the current blockade of the work of the House of Peoples, on whose agenda European laws are a high priority.

He emphasized that the HDZ BiH remains committed to peace, stability and territorial integrity and wants to resolve all open political issues through dialogue and with full respect for the constitutional order.

Čović stressed that the HDZ BiH seeks partners who are ready to ensure the constitutional equality of the three constituent peoples and legitimate political representation in the House of Peoples and the Presidency of BiH", the HDZ BiH announced.

- We do not want to accept even the minimal possibility that the Bosniak people again elect two Bosniak members of the Presidency of BiH - Čović stated.

He also recalled a series of proposals that the HDZ BiH has already put forward several times, which include the adoption of the remaining two laws from the European package, amendments to the Election Law, the adoption of the Law on the Budget of the Institutions of BiH, and other necessary legal solutions that are a prerequisite for the functionality and European progress of the country.

He emphasized that the HDZ BiH calls on all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to unity, responsible action, constructive dialogue and reaching an agreement based on real and sustainable foundations, in order to ensure stability, the functionality of institutions and clear progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European path, the HDZ BiH announced.
