Members of the Central Election Commission of BiH observed elections in the Republic of Serbia

(Patria) - Members of the Central Election Commission of BiH Irena Hadžiabdić, Jovan Kalaba, and Željko Bakalar, at the invitation of the Republic Electoral Commission of Serbia, observed the elections in the Republic of Serbia held on Sunday, 17.12.2023.

The elections were held for members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, for members of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as local government elections. A total of 6,500,666 voters were eligible to vote in the elections at 8,273 polling stations.

The purpose of observing the elections was to increase the understanding of different electoral systems and to apply best practices in elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Observer missions of the Central Election Commission of BiH are also used to establish international cooperation with the election administration bodies of other countries with the aim of exchanging experiences.

Members of the Central Election Commission of BiH met with members of the Republic Electoral Commission of Serbia, as well as with representatives of the state electoral commissions of Montenegro and North Macedonia, with whom they discussed possibilities for improving mutual cooperation.

International cooperation represents a very important segment in the work of the Central Election Commission of BiH, and intensive establishment of international contacts will continue in the future.
