Bursać: Unlike Belgrade, Podgorica is great because a man named Nermin can be mayor

"Podgorica, with votes for doctor Nermin Abdić, rose above the Serbian world's village. Because in Belgrade and Banja Luka, a man named Nermin, not only could he not win, but the strongest parties wouldn't even put him on the list due to his 'exotic' and unsuitable name and surname. That is why Podgorica is a CITY, and the mentioned places are just voluntary zealot villages. My salute to the people of Podgorica. My salute to doctor Abdić!"

The results of the local elections in Podgorica show that DPS has risen, not from the dead, because it never died, but from being politically impotent.

Pardon me, an erection in vivo!

With about 30 percent of the votes, they showed that they are individually the strongest party in the capital and that they have recovered from the treacherous litija-fueled blows that lasted for four full years.

But it is still too early; the combinations that will follow in the coming days, weeks, and perhaps months will determine the fate, not only of the capital but also of Montenegro, and once and for all, the state ship from Boka will either turn towards the West or be definitively stranded on the rocks of the Serbian world. Paradoxically, as things stand now, Jakov Milatović with his people will likely be the deciding factor in whether Montenegro heads towards Brussels or Vučić's embrace. Jakov must first resolve these matters with himself, then with the city, and finally with the state he, at least formally, leads.

But I want to briefly discuss something else. I want to talk about doctor Nermin Abdić, who has emerged as the primary figure not only for the mayoral seat but also for the entire DPS, and perhaps for the future of all of Montenegro.

Before that, like it or not, come praise for DPS.

Only DPS had the strength to put such a man in such a (possible) position, and only Podgorica rose above the Serbian world's village. Because in Belgrade and Banja Luka, a man named Nermin, not only could he not win, but the strongest parties wouldn't even put him on the list due to his 'exotic' and unsuitable name and surname. That is why Podgorica is a CITY, and the mentioned places are just voluntary zealot villages.

And even more so, that is why Montenegro is (still) an anti-fascist, civic, secular state, whose constitution recognizes citizens, not ethnicities, as holders of political power. I am writing this with elation, from a place where there is no elation tonight. I am writing this from Banja Luka, which can only dream of such a man and which next Sunday will choose between the Chetniks in power and the Chetniks in opposition.

Similarly, I am writing this from Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country that strives to be civic, but local politicians, for their own sake and small stipends, do not allow the civic principle of one person-one vote. So they prefer to be close to Karadžić's idea of a nation than to the notion of a civic state. They are unable and dare not even copy the Montenegrin constitution.

In any case, it is fitting to congratulate Nermin Abdić, who, regardless of any future combinations, is a human, moral, and political winner of these elections, but I also want to congratulate the people of Podgorica who have defeated themselves, apathy, and those columns of weekend voters from the Serbian world who came to shape the destiny of the capital.

And they broke their teeth, tires, and faces!

Long live Montenegro, a civic country, and forward to final victory, Nermine-MY GOOD ONE!

And as it seems, this will be an introduction to demands for extraordinary parliamentary elections, because this majority in the Assembly does not correspond to the will of the citizens of Montenegro. They are to blame for that themselves!
