Božović: Vučić should not be tied to the 'Serbian world', he is the leader today, tomorrow it will be someone else!

(Patria) - Aleksandar Vučić's foreign policy has collapsed, but regardless of being wrong and everything he does being wrong, he should not be underestimated because he is very successful in his wrongness. He will persist in this wrongness and cause major headaches for the region, and even the EU, regarding stability and security.

This was stated by Balša Božović, Director of the Regional Academy for Democracy Development, in a conversation with Nevena Kovačević in the new podcast of the Patria Agency.

“It is important for the European Union that there are no more situations that almost escalated in Moldova and then in the presidential elections in Romania. Vučić is following this situation, while on the wrong pro-Russian track, and he knows that the EU is aware of what a problem he is for the EU, the region, and Serbia,” added Božović.

Asked if Vučić's frustrations due to the internal situation in Serbia could be reflected in the region, Božović says: “Vučić should not be equated with the 'Serbian world'. He is the leader of that project today, tomorrow it doesn't have to be him, it will be someone else. The Serbian world has its own neuralgic points in the region, Vučić has his strength within a society that is deeply Russified, which has distanced itself from the European Union over 13 years and become anti-Western”.

Regarding the influence of the 'Serbian world' on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Božović says: “As for BiH, Milorad Dodik has made a clear agreement with the US administration, he has obtained the lifting of sanctions and unfreezing of accounts for himself and his associates, and guaranteed Bosnia and Herzegovina a certain kind of security”.

“The other thing is that he is not politically withdrawing and that he has remained the leader of SNSD and RS. He has crowned himself with the title of president and is the president from now on forever. How much political influence he will still have remains to be seen, as that influence will weaken,” Božović stated.
