Božinović: There is no tolerance for illegal conduct within police ranks

(Patria) - Croatian Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović stated today that there is no understanding or tolerance for illegal conduct within police ranks, referring to the arrest of police officers in an anti-corruption operation in Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Karlovac counties.

"Last year, at the Ministry level, we had over 500 disciplinary proceedings, we often communicated these figures, and this happens in other police forces as well. Some lose their jobs. All these events, including the one today, are the result of the work of this same police force," Božinović said in Buzet, where he participated in a trilateral meeting of the Ministers of the Interior of Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy, Hina reports.

"We are consistent in this and will remain so," Božinović conveyed.

In the anti-corruption operation that began today in Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Karlovac counties, three police officers and an employee of a local self-government unit from the Gorski Kotar region were arrested.

The four arrested are suspected of criminal offenses against official duty, and the criminal investigation is being conducted by the Economic Crime and Corruption Service of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Administration in coordination with the USKOK (Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime).
