Bosniaks in Croatia launch 'Not in Our Name' initiative for recognition of Palestine

(Patria) - A group of Bosniaks in Croatia has launched a citizens' initiative called 'Not in Our Name' calling on the Croatian government to recognize the state of Palestine and halt arms exports to Israel. The initiative comes at a time when an increasing number of European countries are recognizing Palestine, and Croatia's moral responsibility is increasingly coming into the public focus.

Recall, yesterday 56 members of parliament signed a letter to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković demanding the recognition of Palestine. Among them are also MPs from the SDSS who represent the Serbian community in Croatia. Unfortunately, the Bosniak MP in the Croatian Parliament did not support this initiative, which sparked reactions within the Bosniak community.

"As moral responsibility grows, our MP behaves like a mere government lackey. Instead of being the voice of his community and standing for justice, he remains tied to a political pact with Israel to the detriment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosniaks, and his own credibility," the initiative's organizers emphasize.

Citizens and Bosniak associations are invited to join the initiative by signing an online form. The results will be made public, while individual data of signatories will remain confidential.
