Borut Pahor founded the Institute of Friends of the Western Balkans

(Patria) - Former President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor recently founded the Institute of Friends of the Western Balkans. He said today at a press conference on the occasion of the release of his book in Ljubljana that the institute was created in response to the needs he experienced as prime minister and president through his political experiences with the region, in which he made many connections.

"It is about the fact that Slovenians, including myself through direct work as prime minister and president of the Republic, from regulating relations with Croatia, calming and regulating relations with Serbia, especially through the Brdo-Brijuni Initiative for all 13 years, have some insight into the international community's misunderstanding of what is happening in the Western Balkans," he said.

At the presentation of his book Victory is the Beginning, he emphasized that he has friends everywhere in the region and open doors between all peoples and states, reports STA (Slovenian Press Agency).

Alja Brglez will play a key role in the institution, who has been working closely with Pahor for many years. In the past, she was the head of his cabinet during his presidential term. In the recent period, however, she has been active in the Cooperation Platform led by SDS MP Anže Logar.
