Bosnia and Herzegovina transporters remain at borders for the fourth night in a row, continuing blockades until their demands are met

(Patria) - Zijad Šarić, a member of the Management Board of the Logistics Consortium BiH, confirmed for N1 that BiH transporters have decided to continue their protest and border crossing blockades after today's crisis staff meeting.

This means that BiH transporters will remain at the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the fourth night in a row.

Šarić also commented on the European Commission's decision to finally recognize professional truck drivers as a special category, paving the way for resolving the issue of stay in the Schengen area.

This is a solution that will be the starting point for future resolution of the long-standing problem of transporters from BiH, for whom the current regime does not allow stays in Schengen longer than 90 days in a 180-day period.

- Based on these statements, nothing is finished or fulfilled for us yet. Everything that will be considered does not contribute to solving our problems in any way because it drags on indefinitely.

We have been trying to solve the drivers' problem for a year, and now that we have protested, someone remembered to say they are initiating something and will come up with a solution, but no one has said when.

No one has given us guarantees that no one will interfere with the drivers until that moment, i.e., the final solution - said Šarić.

Since the authorities have appealed to stop the mentioned blockades and end the protests because, as they stated, millions in economic damage are being caused, Šarić emphasized that they are addressing the wrong party.

- They should not ask transporters to stop the protests, but the institutions. They should address the ambassadors, the European Commission, not the transporters.

They should appeal to the authorities who should do their job and solve this problem. We have primarily blocked ourselves, and only then other branches of the economy - Šarić said.

In the end, he stated that the decision was made at the crisis staff meeting of the Logistics Consortium BiH today that the border blockades will remain until their demands are met.

Let us remind you that Serbia and North Macedonia are also blocking the borders together with BiH transporters, while Montenegro abandoned the protests after an agreement with the Government.
