BELGRADE Police officer killed by car, driver flees scene

(Patria) - This morning around 5:30 AM, a tragedy occurred in Kumodraška Street in Voždovac, Belgrade, in which a police officer died.

According to the information published, an unknown driver hit the police officer with a car and then fled the scene of the accident.

The police learned about the case when a citizen called and reported that a dead woman was lying in a pool of blood on the roadway in Kumodraška Street, near number 113.

The investigation indicates that the driver fled after the impact. Parts of the vehicle, including the license plate, were found at the scene, which could help in identification.

The prosecutor has been informed of the case and has ordered an autopsy of the body. The police are currently reviewing surveillance camera footage and are intensively searching for the perpetrator.
